Uma falha refere-se a uma perturba\u00e7\u00e3o no fluxo normal de eletricidade nos componentes de um sistema de energia, como um aumento no fluxo de corrente para uma ou mais fases. A \u00faltima tarefa \u00e9 respons\u00e1vel por fornecer uma posi\u00e7\u00e3o aproximada onde a falha ocorreu na linha. Ambas as atividades s\u00e3o aspectos cr\u00edticos da manuten\u00e7\u00e3o e reparo de linhas de transmiss\u00e3o, pois permitem que as empresas de energia identifiquem rapidamente e com precis\u00e3o o tipo e a localiza\u00e7\u00e3o de uma falha para despachar uma equipe de reparo para corrigir o problema.
